Surprise Guest Review! David Ferreira On The Padron Executive

At the beach, or more then a mile in the sky,
a Padron Executive purchased from
70/70 Cigars in Westport MA
is a great choice.
The bold earthy tones are really
highlighted when enjoyed outdoors.
The smooth smoke starts and finishes
with great flavor, and was enjoyed
right down to the end.
Only put it out because
I was burning my fingers.
When looking for a smoke to take
to the great outdoors, head to 70/70.
Can't go wrong.

Thanks Dave for the great post!- the 70/70 Team.

Nub Maduro 460 Review

Nub Madruo 460

Size: 'Nub' 4 x 60
Construction:  Dark brown, oily, Brazilian Maduro wrapper, with a Nicaraguan filler and binder. Medium veins accompany the small to medium tooth giving it a slightly rougher touch that it looks. The Nub has a construction style all their own. Besides an unusual Vitola the Nub's all have a very hard feel. After smoking one I have come to the conclusion that they are packed  full of as much tobacco as they could fit in.
Prelight: Earth tones, such as hay, grass, leather accompany the warm cedar.

First 1/3rd: The First whack of flavor in this one is quite a nice surprise. Expecting strait earthy flavors the Nub Maduro starts out with a rich black pepper through the nose, and maintains a nice earthy background. The first third finishes rather quickly but is a very smooth creamy taste.

Second 1/3rd: After the creamy finish of the first third your left with a sharp bittersweet chocolate.

Last 1/3rd: The last third begins with a toasty dry chocolate introduction. Darker earth notes including, leather and cedar, with still a slight black pepper background.

Finish: The strength of the black pepper returns for one last blast, giving way to a lengthy leathery finish.

Overall: A wonderful jam packed Maduro smoke with a couple of hints of cream and a general bittersweet chocolate taste. A couple of carefully placed wallops of black pepper, and the leathery finish help round out the Nub Maduro as an interesting smoke. All in all I'd say its about as much fun a cigar can have in 4 inches.

Nosotros Robusto Review

Illusione Nosotros Robusto

Size: Robusto 5 x 50
Construction: Silky brown Nicaraguan Corojo 99 wrapper with Nicaraguan filler and a Habano seed Connecticut binder. Fine or no tooth, smooth to the touch with a nice spicy prelight scent.

First 1/3rd: Tons of spice to start off, it definitely tingles the nasal passages. The cigar turns to a more subtle black pepper on the tongue. Mid to full body spice has subsided completely to pepper and toasty flavors, with rich coffee notes.

Second 1/3rd: Getting into the body it releases some sweet earth flavors and continues with a nice balance of pepper and dark coffee.

Last 1/3rd: Still very smooth on the palate with a hint of sweetness and a touch of creaminess.

Finish: Strength returns with a bit of a nicotine kick. Burnt sugar and molasses towards the end.

Padron 2000 Maduro Review

Padron 2000 Maduro

Size: Robusto 5 x 50
Construction: Very bold looking Nicaraguan Puro; with a small/medium rough tooth.
Burn: The Padron 2000 Maduro burned at a nice even circular pattern, with a rough white ash. A testiment to Padron's reputation for quality control.

 First 1/3rd
Rich tobacco spice and leather come through, with an effortless draw and volumes of smoke.

 Second 1/3rd
Less spice and a deeper sweet earthiness comes through on the 2nd 1/3rd.

Final 1/3rd
Consistent sweet earthiness and leather with a continuation of the rich spice to create a classic Padron flavor profile.

Finish: Finishes dry with diminishing earthiness and an ever present spice.

Overall: For a Robusto that will have a consistent construction, as well as consistent flavor all throughout the stick, the Padron 2000 Maduro is a nice way to get there. This is a regular smoke for me while driving, or walking the dog. Although the changes in flavor are more subtle than other Nicaraguan Puros the Padron carries you through thick and thin with rich taste for short money.

Tatuaje Tainos Review

Tatuaje Brown Label Tainos
 Size: Double Corona; 7 5/8ths x 49
Construction: Chocolaty Brown Nicaragua Corojo 99 wrapper, and Nicaraguan fillers and binders. Has a small/medium tooth to it.
Prelight: Strong tobacco with hints of earthiness.

 First 1/3rd
Creamy white smoke; after a puff or two the tell tale Pepin pepper comes on strong.

Second 1/3rd
The Tainos transforms to a darker thicker smoke with stronger hints of leather and cedar.

 Last 1/3rd
On the final third it smooths out but maintains a rich tobacco taste. The spice gives slightly to a sweeter almost chocolaty taste.

Finish: A smooth cool long finish to a long and peppery cigar.

Overall: An impressive stick by any means, this Tatuaje is exemplary of the masterful blending of Pepin. I’d recommend this stick to any one who has worked there way up the Tatuaje line. Put your feet up, with a couple fingers of your favorite spirits, and let this cloud of spice drift you into the atmosphere.
